Prof Kudchadker has addressed three broad problems that our higher education system continues to grapple with: access, equity, and excellence. Given his vast leadership experience, he has been able to provide innovative solutions to address these issues, while also defining what a technological institute needs in order to leverage and strengthen the potential of young India. This book proposes institutional changes that will not only reform our current system in imparting education, but will also give greater power to the student. I believe this book must be widely read by administrators, educators, developmental thinkers, practitioners and students alike, for every one of them has a stake in the future of higher education in India. -Sam Pitroda, Chairman, National Innovation Council, Government of India. This book is an extraordinary contribution from a dedicated teacher, eminent scholar, educator and researcher in the field of chemical engineering, who has clearly wrestled with critical issues facing engineering education in India and elsewhere. It provides the starting template for any serious effort at a new, concerted approach to transforming India’s able youth to the vibrant, innovative force it can be! -Dr. Doraiswami Ramkrishna, H. C. Peffer Distinguished Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering , Purdue University, USA.
